What are Learning Communities?

The Learning Communities were created as a way to get all the students working together and mixing with different age groups. They consist of 6 different communities altogether. The community names were chosen to reflect the local area, and were taken specifically from gates and bridges around Norwich.

Form groups are based on the community you are in, and now take place with mixed year groups. The idea is so that all students get to mix with people from a variety of different age groups. It also means that the elder students have the opportunity to mentor the younger ones. They give them a taste of what will come in their future years at the School. A lot of the form tutors have found it really helps the younger years prepare for their GCSE's by thinking about the decisions they will have to make regarding subject choices, much earlier. The younger students also find that, because they get to know some of their elder peers, they have people to support them through difficult times, other than their teachers.
