Sewell Park College is celebrating today as students’ achievement goes from strength to strength.  After two consecutive years of record results in 2009 and 2010, the Class of 2011 has risen to our challenge for them to do even better and has recorded the best results ever!

Their success rate in GCSEs and equivalent courses has already exceeded the targets and expectations for this cohort of students and, with a few grades still to be received, it is clear that some significant milestones are to be surpassed:

  • the first year group to break the 60% mark for five or more A* to C grades in any subject;
  • the first year group to break the 40% mark for five or more A* to C grades including English and Mathematics!

What is more, more than 1 in 5 students is celebrating gaining three or more qualifications at grade A or A* and 2 in 5 students achieved 8 or more A*-C grades!

These are phenomenal achievements and are due entirely to the hard work and dedication of students and staff and their absolute belief in what can be achieved.  Congratulations must go to all!

Amongst the many successes this year, there are some achievements of which we are especially pleased and proud:

Our outgoing Head Boy and Girl, Jordan Wyatt and Laura Battigan, who worked so tirelessly as ambassadors for Sewell Park, have been rewarded by gaining between them 12 A* and 11 A grades.  Deputies, Perry Aitken-Stokes and Emily Cunningham, also share 8 A*s and 6 As.  These four students have led by example and are among 27 students to gain 5 or more A*s and As and 55 students to achieve 10 or more A*-C grades!  Well done to you all!

Business and Finance Diploma students Rachel Bygrave and Ben Goddard were both awarded an A grade pass, bringing their results total to the equivalent of 18 and 17 GCSEs respectively, all at grades A*-C!  All BAF Diploma students are to be congratulated for achieving at least 5 C grades through this rigorous qualification.

Over the past few years we have been pleased to welcome into the Sewell Park College
community a growing number of students from different ethnic backgrounds (EMG) and from other countries, for whom English is not their first language (EAL).  We are delighted that all 26 of these students in the Class of 2011 achieved between 5 and 16 A*-G grades.  Six of the 11 EMG students and 5 of the 15 EAL students achieved the government ‘gold standard’ of 5 of more A*-C grades including English and  Mathematics. Congratulations must go to all of these students, but especially Munirah
Amin, Ruba Begum, Fahimul Islam, Lebogang Moleke, Denise-Joy Murwira, Danil
Barsoukov, Urte Bobinaite, Magdalena Bryl and Marta Zmidzinska for achieving 9
or more A*-C grades including English and Mathematics.

To the Class of 2011 we say very well done to all of you.  You have been a great group of students and we wish you every success in the future.

To the Class of 2012, a challenge…

We will be raising the bar even higher next year!
